Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed profound shock at the death of Ayesha Foyez, mother of eminent author, dramatist, screenwriter, playwright and filmmaker late Humayun Ahmed and wife of police officer Faizur Rahman who embraced martyrdom during the Liberation War in 1971.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Ayesha Foyez died of old age complications at a city hospital this morning at the age of 84.
She was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of LabAid Hospital on September 11 with various complications, including kidney malfunction, and breathed her last around 7:00 am today, hospital sources said.
Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at a mosque adjacent to her cartoonist son Ahsan Habib's Pallabi residence in the capital after Zohr prayers today.
She will be buried at the family graveyard at Mohonganj in Netrakona district.
Ayesha is also mother of popular writer and academic Prof Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.
She was born on Mar 23, 1930 and got married in 1944.
