Bangladesh Government Employees Coordination Council on Saturday criticized Finance Minister AMA Muhith for announcing that the new pay scale for government employees will come into effect from July next.
The Finance Minister’s announcement created a lot of confusion and disappointment among the government employees as the new pay scale, which will be formally announced in July next year, was expected to take a retrospective effect from July this year, said the statement.
The Council warned that it will wage a strong movement if the government fails to put the pay scale into effect from July this year.
Talking to reporters after a meeting at the Secretariat on September 23, the Finance Minister hinted that the report of the pay commission might be available in December and will not take any more time for implementation.
The finance minister, however, said: "Recommendations of the Pay Commission will be executed from the next fiscal if the implementation of it is delayed."
