Police said a team of Paltan Police Station launched drives at different points of Paltan, including Kakrail Nightangle crossing and Rajarbagh Police Hospital, and detained the 20 JCD men while they were going to-wards the BNP office staging a showdown in the morning.
Several teams of police were deployed in the areas since early morning, fearing that the new committee mem-bers of JCD might carry out subversive activities on their way to the party office.
Khaleda Zia approved a 201-member partial committee of the party’s student wing on Tuesday (October 14) last with Rajib Ahsan as its president and Akramul Hasan general secretary.
But the JCD men, who were deprived of posts in the new body, started staging demonstrations in front of the Nayapaltan office on Wednesday and continued it until Fakrul’s intervention on Sunday (October 19).
