Visiting Assistant Secretary General and Director at the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy of UNDP Michael O’Neill on Monday said UNDP will continue its partnership with the Bangladesh government.
On the second day of his visit, O’Neill met Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and the State Minister for Finance and attended a Roundtable on ‘Climate Finance: Opportunities and Challenges’, jointly organized by Bangladesh External Relations Division (ERD) and UNDP.
In his first meeting with the Speaker, O’Neill congratulated her on being elected on October 16, 2014 as the Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and acclaimed Bangladesh’ s role in holding the Presidency of the inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).
He hoped the elevation of Bangladesh to two of the most important global Parliamentary organizations may usher in a period of reform within Parliament under the Speaker’s leadership.
UNDP Country Director Pauline Tamesis, Special Assistant to the Director and Assistant Country Director, Governance were present in the meeting.
