Security beefed up over Nizami verdict
Staff Reporter State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said the government has taken necessary preparations to prevent any anarchic situation in the country over the verdict of Jamaat leader Nizami to be pronounced on Wednesday. ‘”Stern actions will taken if anyone tries to create anarchy over the verdict. Law enforcers have been kept alert ’’ the junior minister said while talking to reporters at his secretariat office in the morning. In reply to a query over the demand for the arrest of Latif Siddique on his arrival, the state minister said the government will take necessary steps according to the court order. Asked about the recent bomb blast in Burdwan, India where two Bangladeshi militants were allegedly involved, Asaduzzaman said, ‘’ The Indian authorities did not inform us officially about it.” In response to another query over India's intelligence report that Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was plotting a terror attack to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the junior minister said, ‘’We’ve come to know about it from newspaper reports, but the Indian government didn’t inform u about it formally.” ‘’We’re alert over militant activists and have arrested a good number of militants,’’ he added.
