The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations slated for Wednesday (Nov 5) and Thursday (Nov 6) have been rescheduled for November 19 and 20 respectively due to hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami.
Deputy chief information officer of the Education Ministry Subodh Chandra Dhali said the decision for rescheduling the examinations was taken in a meeting at the ministry with Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid in the chair on Monday.
He said Wednesday’s English 1st paper examination of the JSC examinees will be held on November 19 while their Thursday’s English 2nd paper examination will be held on November 20.
Besides, the JDC examinees’ Arabic 1st paper examination will be held on November 19 while their Arabic 2nd paper exam will be held on November 20.
Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday called a 24-hour hartal for Wednesday protesting the verdict of the Supreme Court that upheld the death penalty of its leader M Kamaruzzaman which had earlier been awarded by the International Crimes Tribunal-2.
The party had earlier announced a 24-hour strike for Thursday in protest against the death sentence of its policymaker Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes.
Earlier, two examinations of the JSC and JDC examinees were rescheduled for the same reason.
The examinations of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) were scheduled to begin across the country on November 2.
A total of 2,090,692 students -- 1,764,595 from schools and 3,26,097 from madrasahs -- will sit for the examinations from 27,925 institutions throughout the country.
