The cabinet on Monday paid tribute to slain democracy activist Noor Hossain, commemorating his martyrdom.
Members of the cabinet paid their respects to Noor Hossain at the start of the regular weekly cabinet meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
In doing so, the cabinet members recalled his supreme sacrifice for the cause of establishing democracy in the country.
On this day in 1987, Noor Hossain was killed by police near Zero Point during a mass rally for establishing democracy.
The anti-autocracy movement had got momentum after the death of Noor Hossain and subsequently led to the fall of 9-year rule of HM Ershad on December 6, 1990.

Noor Hossain’s sacrifice recalled
