Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed profound shock at the death of Syed Mainul Hossain, the architect of the National Monument in Savar.
In a message of condolence, Hasina said that the National Monument built with the unique design of Mainul in memory of the martyrs of the Great War of Liberation, would remain forever as a symbol of utmost sacrifices of the Bengali nation.
She said that the nation would remember his name forever with deep respect in recognition of this great achievement.
The Prime Minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the family members of the bereaved.
Syed Mainul Hossain, the architect of the National Monument in Savar, died of brain stroke at National Heart Foundation Hospital in Dhaka today.
The renowned architect was declared “brought dead” when he was rushed to the emergency unit of the hospital around 3:00pm.
Mainul Hossain won Sheltech Award in 2008.
