The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday censured prosecutor Abul Kalam for submitting without proper scrutiny the formal charges made against fugitive war crimes accused Syed M Hachen alias Hasan of Kishoreganj.
The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, came up with the view before framing formal charges against the accused.
Citing a few examples drawn from the formal charges, the tribunal said it has detected contradictory figures and information in the formal charges as submitted by the prosecution.
“The legal profession is not so easy though it is a noble one,” observed the tribunal, pointing to prosecutor Kalam.
Earlier on October 22, the tribunal was critical of the ICT investigator as it found lack of sincerity in collecting proper documents in support of the charges made against war crimes accused Syed M Hachen.
The tribunal had also reminded the prosecution to submit papers and documents in connection with the war crimes case after proper scrutiny as it found trash documents.
