The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday suggested the government to construct more godowns to store fertilisers and seeds.
It also suggested the ministry to provide adequate compensation to the farmers affected by the recent floods.
The parliamentary committee made the recommendations at its 4th meeting, held at Jatiya Sangsad with its chairman Mokbul Hossain in the chair.
It recommended measures to improve irrigation system preserving surface water and digging cannels.
Discussing the manpower shortage in the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), the committee suggested filling its vacant posts.
Committee members Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Abdur Razzak, Abdul Mannan, Nazrul Islam Babu, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen, Nurul Islam Omar and Umme Kulsum Smriti attended the meeting, said a handout.
