Narayanganj: A court here on Wednesday placed Monayem, brother of the prime accused of Burdwan blast case in India Sheikh Rahmatullha alias Sajid, on a two-day remand in connection with a case.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin, passed the order when police produced Monayem before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Monayem alias Maoir Hossain alias Mona from Farajikanda in Narayanganj on Tuesday.
Later, he was shown arrest in a case and handed over to Bandar Police Station, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station.
During interrogation, Mona said he had no connection with his younger brother Masum during the last 10 years.
In a major breakthrough in investigation into the Bardhaman blast case, the West Bengal Police arrested Sajid, who the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has described as the “chief of the Bardhaman module”, on Jessore Road in the Indian state on Saturday, according to recent Indian media reports.
An explosion on October 2 in a house at Burdwan in West Bengal killed two suspected militants -- Shakil Ahmed and Sobhan Mandal -- and left a person, Hasan Saheb, injured.
