Security to be beefed up ahead of V Day
Staff Reporter State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said security measures will be beefed up across the country ahead of the Victory Day to be celebrated on December 16. He said this while talking to reporters after an inter-ministerial meeting on the security measures for the Victory Day celebrations held at the Secretariat. The junior minister said the law enforcers will remain alert during the celebrations, particularly in mass gathering areas like the National Mausoleum. He also called upon all people to hoist the national flag in proper way on the day. For arranging programs in the capital on the day, the organizers have to inform the two city corporations and the police. Outside Dhaka, the organizers have to inform the deputy commissioner and their respective district’s superintendent of police, he added. If any archway built around the city streets to commemorate the Victory Day creates any security problem or other types of inconveniences, it will be removed by the police, Asaduzzaman said. Asked about the prevalence of gold smuggling in recent times, he said the government is in a strict position regarding gold smuggling.
