Housewife found hanged in Sherpur
A Correspondent Sherpur: Police recovered hanging body of a housewife from her residence at Uttar Kharia village in Sribordi upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Jesmin Begum,20, wife of Sujan Miah, a resident of the same village. Police and locals said Sujan had been married with Jesmin, daughter of Abdul Jalil, a resident of Pashchim Jhinia village of the upazila, eight months ago. Sujan often used to lock in quarrel with his wife over trifling matters and torture her since after their marriage. On Friday morning, local people spotted Jesmin’s body from the ceiling of her bedroom and informed police. Later police recovered the body and sent it to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Victim’s mother Sajeda Begum alleged Sujan and his family members had been torturing Jesmin for dowry and killed her over the issue. Sujan’s family members said she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room. Whether it is a suicide or murder could be confirmed after the autopsy report, said Shawon Mahmud Apu, sub-inspector of Sribordi Police Station. A case was filed in this connection.
