Staff reporter Accusing the government of conspiring to put top BNP leaders in the dock in false cases aiming to secure its illegal power, BNP senior leader Abdullah Al Noman on Wednesday said their party will face the political plots politically on the streets. “Sheikh Hasina is trying to annihilate the nationalist forces by trying Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman in false cases to perpetuate their illegal power. It’s a political conspiracy, and we’ll face it politically on the streets,” he said. The BNP leader was addressing a human chain program in front of the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolan demanding the withdrawal of ‘false and conspiratorial cases’ against BNP chief Khaleda Zia and its senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman. Noman, a BNP vice chairman, said the government has buried democracy by snatching people’s all basic rights. He alleged that the government is also planning to hold another staged-managed election by trying BNP senior leaders and landing them in jails so that they cannot join the polls. The BNP leader said the country’s people have started getting united against the government’s repressive acts, killings and enforced disappearances. “The day is not far away, when people will put up a strong resistance against the current government and foil its all evil designs.” Criticizing the government for what he said unleashing the law enforcers to subdue people, he said police and Rab will also change their stance when people will come up with united resistance. “People liberated the country sacrificing their lives and bloods and they’ll again make the same, if necessary, to protect the country. Arms and state terrorism won’t be able to counter people’s sticks and brickbats,” Noman observed. He claimed that the Awami League regime has got isolated both at home and abroad for illegally grabbing power. “The government has no friend -- neither at home nor abroad. No one is with the regime expect Hasanul Haq Inu and Rashed Khan Menon.”
