AQRMC set up in DU
Staff Reporter A modern Air Quality Research and Monitoring Centre (AQRMC) has been established at the centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS) of Dhaka University. The inaugural ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. It was followed by an international seminar titled ‘’Air Quality and Its Consequences: Global Perspective’’ at the same venue. Presided over by the Pro-Vice chancellor (Administration) of DU and Sub-Project Manager (CP-2196) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain the inaugural ceremony of the AQRMC and the international seminar was addressed by Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) as the chief guest while Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer of World Bank, Prof Dr Thorsten Benter of Wuppertal University, Germany and Dr Ferdinand von Weyhe, Charge D Affairs of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dhaka addressed the function as special guests. Director of CARS of DU Prof DrAltafHussain thanks gave of vote. The AQRMC has been set up with the support from Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of the UGC of Bangladesh funded by World Bank and Bangladesh Government under the sub-project, “Establishing an Air Quality Monitoring Centre (CP-2196)”, in collaboration with Wuppertal University, Germany.
