Kashimpur jail’s missing rifle found in pond

A Correspondent Gazipur: The rifle that went missing from the armory of Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail was found in an abandoned pond of the prison on Wednesday. The firearm was found around 11am when a group of around 50 prison guards was searching for it in the pond, said Mohammad Nurul Islam, deputy commissioner of the district. Jailer Jannatul Farhad said prison guard Al Amin who traced the rifle first was given Tk 5,000. The missing incident came to light on Sunday afternoon while arms were being counted at the armoury. A general diary was lodged with Joydevpur Police Station in this regard. Three guards, including chief ome Sirajul Islam, were suspended over the incident. Another guard, Arif Hossain, was also arrested in this connection.
