President visits Taj Mahal
ACorrespondent Agra (Uttar Pradesh): President Abdul Hamid on Saturday visited the Mughal-era mausoleum Taj Mahal, a testament of Emperor Shah Jahan’s love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. President Hamid went around the 17th century monument, one of the world’s seven wonders, for about 30 minutes. Officials of Indian Tourism Ministry briefed Hamid about the monument, built over 22 years. It is considered as the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the globally acclaimed masterpieces of the world's heritage. The President also signed in the visitors’ book at the Taj Mahal. Later, the President visited Agra Fort, another architectural beauty of the Mughal era. Earlier in the day, the President arrived in Agra from New Delhi by a special Air India flight.
