Ekram Murder 2 accused sent to jail
A Correspondent Feni: A court here on Monday sent two charge-sheeted accused in the Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque killing case to jail following their surrender. Judge of the Cognisance Court-1 judicial magistrate Alamgir Muhammad Faruki passed the order when the duo surrendered before the court at noon. The accused are Jahangir Kabir Adel, joint general secretary of district Awami League, and Ziaul Haque Mister, a member of district Jubo League convening committee. After remaining absconding for about nine months into the gruesome murder of the upazila chairman, Adel and Ziaul turned up to the court on Monday. Sub-inspector of Feni Model Police Station Abul Kalam Azad, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against 56 people in the case on August 29 last. With this, a total of 36 people are now behind the bars in connection with the killing of Ekramul Haque while the 20 others remained absconding. On May 20 last, Ekram, also president of Fulgazi upazila unit of Awami League, came under attack by miscreants in front of Bilasi Cinema Hall on his way to Fulgazi municipality office from his Masterpara residence in the district town. The miscreants intercepted his microbus and fired shots on him from a very close range and then set fire to the vehicle. They left the scene after confirming Ekram’s death on the spot. Ekram’s brother Rejaul Haque Jasim filed a case against local BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar and 35 unidentified people with Feni Model Police Station on May 21.
