BNP leader Dudu placed on remand
Court Correspondent A Dhaka court on Monday placed three people, including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu, on a five-day remand each in a case filed under the Special Powers Act. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam passed the order when Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court, seeking a 10-day remand for each. The two other accused are-Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Liton, secretary of Mitpur no 14 ward unit Jubo Dal and Didar, an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir. Miscreants set a bus afire in the city’s Shewarapara area on Sunday, the 6th day of the countrywide blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance. Later, police filed a case against 40 identified people, including the BNP leader, and scores of unidentified people in connection with the arson attack. Police arrested Shamsuzzaman Dudu and two others from Jhutpatti Rabbani Hotel in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday night.
