Hours after the withdrawal of police cordon around her office, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at a press conference on Monday said the ongoing indefinite transport blockade enforced by her party BNP-led 20-party alliance would continue until further announcement.
Khaleda came up with the announcement at a press conference at her Gulshan political office following a meeting with BNP senior leaders in the evening.
“The ruling party became desperate to foil our peaceful programs. Activists of BNP and 20-party alliance are now turning out to the streets along with people only to be sprayed with bullets apart from clubbing and lobbing teargas shells,” she said.
The BNP chief further alleged that the ruling coalition has resorted to a suicidal path to create a bad impression abroad about their peaceful program across the country.
Earlier, police withdrew their barricade from in front of BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the early hours, 15 days after their strong vigil.
The additional law enforcers deployed around Khaleda’s office for the last 15 days left the area around 2:30am with water cannon kept on south side and four police vans -two each at south and north sides -- on the No 86 road at Gulshan.
